Move safely

Safety & calorie guidance

DROP should help movement fit into your day — never pressure you to exercise when it is unsafe or unsuitable.

Your body comes before the score.

Skip, adapt, pause or stop any DROP that does not feel right. Points, streaks and challenges are never more important than your safety.

Age requirement

DROP is intended only for adults aged 18 or over. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the app.

DROP is not a medical device

DROP is a general fitness and wellbeing app. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.

Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and before beginning a new exercise programme if you have an existing medical condition, an injury, are pregnant, have recently had surgery, or have concerns about exercising.

Exercise safely

  • Only begin a DROP when you have enough clear space and it is safe to move.
  • Wear suitable footwear and use a stable surface where the movement requires it.
  • Follow the movement preview and adapt the range, pace or impact to suit your ability.
  • Pause, choose a lower-impact option, or abandon a DROP whenever needed.
  • Do not use DROP while driving, cycling on a road, operating machinery or doing anything that needs your full attention.

Stop exercising immediately if you experience chest pain, dizziness, faintness, unusual shortness of breath, severe pain, loss of balance or feel unwell. Seek urgent medical help where appropriate.

Phone and effort-tracking safety

DROP can add bonus points for detected effort on eligible workouts. If safe to do so, hold your phone during the workout to enable effort tracking.

Do not hold your phone where it creates a risk of dropping it, striking yourself or another person, losing balance, restricting movement or damaging the device. A secure pocket may be more appropriate for some workouts. Effort tracking is an estimate and should not encourage unsafe intensity.

About calorie estimates

Calories shown in DROP are estimates, not precise measurements. Estimates may use the workout performed, workout duration and available activity or profile information. Actual energy expenditure varies substantially between individuals and may differ from the displayed figure.

DROP calorie estimates are provided for general fitness and progress tracking only. They should not be used for medical, dietary, nutritional or weight-management decisions.

Why an estimate can differ Body size, age, fitness level, movement technique, intensity, rest periods, device position and individual metabolism can all affect actual calorie expenditure.

Optional health integrations

On Android, Health Connect is optional. When connected, DROP may read permitted steps and calorie information to support progress and effort features. If you enable calorie saving, DROP may write its estimated active-calorie value for a completed DROP to Health Connect.

A value written to Health Connect remains a DROP estimate. Other apps you authorise may be able to view it. You can review permissions and delete Health Connect records through Android Health Connect settings.

The current iPhone version does not access Apple Health or HealthKit. Fitness activity created inside DROP, including completed workouts and estimated calories, can still be recorded in your DROP account.
